The Home Of Jazz Funk & Soul

  • Claire Beverly

My desire to DJ on the radio came from listening to ‘Luxembourg 208 ‘ via my Transistor radio which was conveniently placed under the pillow when as child would tune in to the DJ’s and music whilst in my bed at night. I was introduced to some amazing music, the likes of which was not transmitted via the mainstream channels such as BBC.
DJ for me started back in 1973 at The Mexican Bar in Squires Gate, Blackpool and then moving on to the Infamous Lytham Football Club, which was a haven for the Northern Soul loving generation at the time. Over the years I moved from playing Northern Soul to Disco, Jazz Funk, Funk, rare groove, reggae and eventually found a niche within the modern and crossover scene, which has become my music of choice along with sweet and deep soul.

I have been privileged to play at many events, Weekenders and all-dayers over the last 40 years, however my penchant for radio has never wavered, taking the opportunity to work on many stations as well as guest appearances too.

I am looking forward to ‘digging deeper’ for my new show ‘TranSister Soul’ on JFSR playing and sharing the popular, well known and more obscure tunes that are just waiting to be heard.
