The late 80s then brought the irresistible energy of acid jazz, with bands like The Brand New Heavies and The James Taylor Quartet becoming favourites of mine. Of course, no soulful journey would be complete without paying homage to the jazz-funk pioneers like Lonnie Liston Smith and Roy Ayers, alongside the smooth vibes of Shalamar and Atlantic Starr. And for those who love to unwind, I'll be spinning the contemporary sounds of smooth jazz masters like Oli Silk and Brian Simpson.
