Hi Im Gayle - also known as Lawless and The Soulful Jamboree is in its sixth year on JFSR. It follows a very simple format. If it’s Funky and Eclectic, it will be on the show. I start with a “left-field” joint, slight off the beaten track but nonetheless soulful. I also have a feature called “I Don’t Like Reggae”, so titled because I never liked the genre growing up but it’s become a staple in my musical diet. I finish off with a 20 minute mix of Afro house, Jacking house, Disco Re-Edits, Soulful House, Whatever takes me on a journey. My 3 all time favourite artists are - Maze - Earth, Wind & Fire - John Holt Hard to pick just 3 as I love many artists from many genres. Very much looking forward to taking the good ship JFSR forward with its slightly different style and feel, and steering her into a promising future.

PAUL LEWIS - ‘The Ultimate Collection’ Fridays @ 4pm - 6pm I have been DJ’ing since I was 13 and have always loved Jazz Funk & Soul having been influenced massively by my Dad (modern Jazz) and Mum (Soul). During my 20’s I was the resident DJ in the Amphitheatre at the Brunel Rooms in Swindon which was a fantastic venue and people would travel from across the country, to boogie down and dance to Jazz Funk & Soul alongside some of the finest dancers in the UK.The nights were regularly mentioned in Blues & Soul Magazine and it is also featured in the book ‘The History of the UK Jazz Dance Scene’ written by Mark ‘Snowboy’ Cotgrove. I appeared at various 80’s Soul Weekenders and DJ’d at various venues across the UK and was fortunate to work alongside some of the legends such as Pete Tong, Tim Westwood and Colin Curtis together with some of the finest local DJ’s in the South West. In recent years I have DJ’d at various Jazz Funk & Soul nights and recently appeared on the ‘Soul Train Show’ on Swindon 105.5 Radio which really made me want to have my own radio show. Being invited to become a DJ/Presenter with the JFSR family is a great privilege and so I hope you enjoy listening to my shows which will feature a collection of the ultimate in soul, funk, jazz funk and ‘real’ jazz My 3 favourite artists are: 1.George Benson 2.Lionel Richie and 3.The Fatback Band. My 3 favourite tracks (geez this is hard): Joy & Pain by Maze, Black is the colour by Wilbert Longmire and Shame by Evelyn Champagne King. Would have a different 3 tracks this time tomorrow though!

HI, Im Mellow A, Born in Birmingham , United kingdom . I bought my first record at 14 years of age , with my paper round money and played my first disco at age 15 at the local youth centre. I was brought up on Reggae , as it was easier to listen to and buy Reggae back in the 70's than it was to hear non-chart Soul. On a Monday night the Locarno in Birmingham used to have a Reggae and Soul /Disco night. This was my introduction to Soul along with Saturday Night Fever. I started to buy non commercial music , now known as Rare Grooves and Boogie. A friend of mine started a " Community " radio station and Mellow A was born. The name was given to me because of the style of music I used to and still play. 1990 saw me relocate to London from Birmingham and that's where I picked up the Rare Groove bug. My shows are a mix of all my musical history from the old to the new to the rare. My other obsession are live shows and Ive been fortunate enough to have seen all of the Reggae and Soul greats from the 70's to the present day . Please join me Sundays 12-2 where I,ll take you on a musical journey with my Oasis show.

About The Show Joining the dots between Jazz, Latin, Brazilian, Soul, Folk, Funk, Rare Groove, Afro-Cuban & Boogie all with a Jazz undertone. Top 3 Artists and songs of all time This is a tough one as it changes all the time but today, I’ll go with: • John Coltrane – A Love Supreme • Alice Coltrane – Journey In Satchidananda • Kelan Phil Cohran And Legacy – White Nile David Patterson Bio Dave started DJing and collecting records in 1987, inspired by the Rare Groove warehouse and Jazz Dance scenes of late 80's London, going on to land a residency with iconic DJ of the UK Jazz scene, Kev Beadle at ground breaking club night “Sound Foundation” at Turnmills in the early 90s. After presenting a weekly show on a London pirate radio station, he progressed into producing his own music, eventually becoming signed by Mo' Wax Records, featuring on some of the label's early releases including the seminal “Headz” LP, doing remix work for Acid Jazz Records amongst others and becoming part of an early incarnation of the UNKLE line up. He also became resident DJ at the legendary Mo’ Wax sessions “Dusted” at The Blue Note, Hoxton alongside James Lavelle and Charlie Dark plus guests such as DJ Shadow, Carl Craig & DJ Krush. Patterson continued to produce and release music both solo and with his group Dark Circle, including the acclaimed LP "Civilians" on Jazz Fudge Records. Throughout this time Dave’s first love remained music based in Jazz and he continued to collect records, going on month-long crate digging trips throughout the USA each year as well as destinations as far flung as Hungary, Croatia, Slovenia and Germany in search of those vinyl gems. His DJing style joins the dots between Soul, Brazilian, Folk, Funk, Latin, Rare Groove, Afro-Cuban & Boogie all with a Jazz undertone.
