Adam Laboz
A record collector since the early age of 4, Adam was always surrounded by music, especially since his father owned 3 record stores throughout his childhood. He really caught the “vinyl bug” approximately 25 years ago, when his wife gave him a mixed tape she had purchased from an unusual boutique in Soho. This tape contained tunes he had never heard before- a mixture of obscure Disco, Funk, Moog, Groovy Sitar, Unusual Soundtracks, Easy Listening, Brazilian, Psychedelia and much more. This unexpectedly opened up a whole other world of music, much of which could only be found on vinyl. He befriended the man who compiled these mind-blowing mix tapes; this man would go on to become his “record mentor”. He gradually bestowed upon Adam many gems from his eclectic record collection.
Over the years, Adam has spun at various nightclubs in New York City, guest DJ-ed on WFMU and had a popular weekly show on a local college radio station. Most recently, in an effort to give people a healthy distraction during last year’s lockdown, he hosted a weekly DJ set on Facebook called “KingVinyl’s Quarantine House Party”.
His greatest passion remains discovering rare tracks and turning his audience on to new and different sounds.Scheduled Shows
