I am DJ Batchy (AKA Stephen Batchelor) and I am originally from South London now resident in Norwich. My love of Jazz, Brazilian and Latin musics stretches right back to childhood. Radio featured in my household daily and I was exposed to a wide range of styles. I began learning classical guitar from the age of ten, later specialising in performance at University for my music degree. From the earliest stages in my musical development Brazil fascinated and completely enthralled me. I have been an avid collector of vinyl, cassettes, radio recordings and newer digital formats for many years. Several years ago I decided to reinvent myself as a radio broadcaster, a Brazilian Bliss is my weekly two-hour exploration of Brazilian musics, and it covers a broad range of musical styles including Samba, Pagode, Frevo, Forro, Jazz, Maracatu, Batucada, Baio, Nu Bossa, Nu Jazz, Sambass, Brazilectro, Manguebeat, and Universal Music. I passionately believe that Brazilian music is underexposed in this country - hence I am determined to change that. Join me for uplifting, positive vibes and the sheer magic that is Brasilia every Monday 10pm to 12am!
