Mellow A – The Oasis

HI, Im Mellow A,
Born in Birmingham , United kingdom . I bought my first record at 14 years of age , with my paper round money and played my first disco at age 15 at the local youth centre. I was brought up on Reggae , as it was easier to listen to and buy Reggae back in the 70’s than it was to hear non-chart Soul. On a Monday night the Locarno in Birmingham used to have a Reggae and Soul /Disco night. This was my introduction to Soul along with Saturday Night Fever. I started to buy non commercial music , now known as Rare Grooves and Boogie. A friend of mine started a ” Community ” radio station and Mellow A was born. The name was given to me because of the style of music I used to and still play. 1990 saw me relocate to London from Birmingham and that’s where I picked up the Rare Groove bug. My shows are a mix of all my musical history from the old to the new to the rare. My other obsession are live shows and Ive been fortunate enough to have seen all of the Reggae and Soul greats from the 70’s to the present day .
